Beastie Boy Ad Rock has told people to stopcriticizing Eminem -- because the bad-boy rapper's just a product ofAmerican society. Ad Rock, real name Adam Horowitz, believesthat his native country has to take responsibility for molding troubledcharacters like the "Stan" star. He says, "People place a lot ofimportance on what he says and give him a lot of s*** for what hesays, but you've got to blame society. You can't take all the blameoff him, but you've also got to put the blame on a society that, inAmerica at least, raises boys to be sexist, to be homophobic, to beknuckleheads -- that's the American way." But the "Shake YourRump" rapper, who faced the same charges of misogyny andhomophobia when his band burst onto the music scene in the '80s,believes Eminem can change for the better -- just like he himselfhas. He says, "It gives me hope to know that people can change. You grow wiser and open your eyes and see the effect of what yousay on other people." source: entertaindom.com |
