AdRock on baseball and the N.Y. Mets

Baseball season for the defending National League Champs, the New York Mets, begins today (April 3) in Atlanta against the Braves, and one notable fan may have rejoined ranks. In the '80s the Beastie Boys' Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz, was easily identifiable by the signature New York Mets baseball hat he donned on stage and in the band's music videos. The Mets went through some lean times and lost some fans before their appearance in the World Series last year. "I'm a fair-weather Mets fan," admitted Horovitz.

However, he did tell LAUNCH he hopped back on the bandwagon for the team's playoff run and fight against the Yankees, and was at the final game of the series last year as they lost to the Yankees. "When it comes to the Mets, I don't...I hadn't watched a Mets game since '86. So when they were back in it last year, I broke out my old, dusty Mets hat and put it back on."

1986 was the last time the New York Mets won the World Series, when they defeated the Boston Red Sox in seven games.
