At last, I have a place to show off photos I've taken here in Sweden!
Note that you can click on the photos to bring up a larger version.
Sweden's provinces are a convenient way of studying Sweden as e.g. folk arts, architecture, climate and landscape are fairly uniform whithin each province.
The provinces have existed at least since the Middle Ages, you could say they're the smaller units that united to form Sweden (though some provinces along the west and south borders weren't Swedish territory until the 17th century).
Provinces that I've added pics for appear in darker grey on the map. Click on the provinces' name in the frame to the left to navigate the site (the map is for overview only, it isn't clickable).
The map isn't entirely accurate nor complete; I downloaded a basic free map of Sweden and added the Baltic Sea, the neighbouring countries and a few of the largest lakes.
August 2006:
Site created. Pics for Dalarna added.
