I assume you can all find Sweden and its capital Stockholm in an atlas, so I won't provied a map for that. :-) Here's some general information instead. The area of Sweden is about ten percent larger than that of California, and the population is currently about 8.9 million. 85 % of the people live in the southern and central parts of Sweden, or along the coast of the northern part. About 1.8 million live in the county of Stockholm.
Swedish is the main language, but for several decades English has been taught as a second language at school, so most Swedes (except some senior citizens) speak English more or less fluently.
This map shows the county boundaries in Sweden, and below is a list of the
county names. County is län in Swedish. The county letters were
introduced in 1936, and were then used on car registration plates. Most of
the county boundaries were fixed in 1718 but lately some counties have been
merged to form larger units, hence there are letters missing in the series. Many
county borders coincide with province borders and most counties are named
either after their residence city or after the corresponding province.
Below, the names of the counties where Laura's and/or Peter lived are clickable links to the county maps further down on this page. Note that the scale of the county maps vary a lot.
