Stefan Pöntinen


The Swedish composer, violinist and performance artist Stefan Pöntinen has created music for various chamber constellations and orchestras but also worked in close connection to the multi art scene, with visual artists, theatre and dance. His music has been performed throughout Europe,
in India and US.

Stefan Pöntinen was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1967.
He was very interested in music as a child and began composing at the age of nine.
In 1986 he moved to Malmö to study violin at the College of Music at Lund University where his teacher was the famous Hungarian violinist Endre Wolf.
1995-98 he studied composition at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris/A. Cortot. His teachers in Paris were Yoshihisa Taïra and the American composer Eugene Kurtz.
Stefan Pöntinen in Bangalore Since graduating, Stefan Pöntinen has been working as a violinist and composer in Europe and in the US and India.
