Josef Nathanael Blomberg was born in 1871 in Ytter Ekeby, Fellingsbro parish, Västmanland. When he was about 17 years old, he travelled alone from Sweden to his aunt Marit Olsdotter who lived in Cokato, Minnesota. She had emigrated already in 1864 to the US. Josef was naturalized American in 1911.
