Saab Sonett II #123 |

Bought this car, together with my son Fredrik, from a Swedish guy in Los Angeles in Mars 2008. |

22 February 2010 New sheet metal plates
| |||
We fabricate most of the metal plates ourself in the shop but for some of them I have made some CAD drawings and a local metal shop has fabricated them for us. The plates are for example the front splash plate, the inner rocker panels and the bars under the seats.

24 January 2010 Renovation of engine and welding
| |||
We have had the engine bored, have bought new pistongs and
painted the engine. At the moment we are waiting for the crankshaft to be
ready. When we get it we will assemble the rest of it.

22 November 2009 Collecting parts
| |||
Long time has passed since the last update. We haven't worked that much with the car itself but we have collected a lot of parts. We will try to get most of the parts before we start to assemble the car. We have also bought new Pirelli Cinturato tyres. That's the same kind that came with the car when it was new. We will also use 4,5" rims instead of 4", the car looks much better with them.

22 March 2009 Electro zink plated parts
| |||
We had 14kg of parts elctro zink plated, every bolt, nut and washer for the car. The result is amazing and it didn't cost that much either.
| |||||
15 March 2009 Powder coated parts
| |||
Picked up all the parts from the paint shop. The result was fantastic. Only one bad thing, the hub for the drum breaks was painted also on the inside.

27 February 2009 Sand blastering of parts and welding
| |||
We welded some bars to keep the shape of car before cutting out the floor pan. We manage to find a complete floor for the car also, nice to change all of it. We also sent over 70 parts for sand blastering.

10 January 2009 Mounting the chassi in a fixture for welding
| |||
We drove 400 kilometers to Linköping to pick up a special fixture you use for welding the car. This makes it easier to keep the chassi straight when you are cutting and welding it.
| |||||
3 January 2009 Starting of renovation
| |||
Now we have got some space in the old garage so we can actually start the renovation. We must start to see how much welding we have to do. I got a deja vu feeling, I've seen this picture before.

3 November 2008 Building a new garage
| |||
We have stoped the work with #123 temporarily beacause we are building a new garage to store the other Saabs. The garage is now ready at least on the inside.
| |||||
29 July 2008 Start of renovation
| |||
| |||
| |||
We started to disassemble the car outside the garage. The car looks good but it's maybe a little bit more rust than we first thought. We also found that the original paint is "Silver grey".

18 June 2008 Picking up the car
| |||
After more than 2 months it was time to pick up the car. It arrived in a container together with a Chevrolet picup and a Buick -53. Everything looked good and the trip back to Tyresö went fine.
| |||||
16 Mars 2008 First pictures of the car
| |||
Pictures from the advert. It's difficult to see how much rust it is, it doesn't look too bad. Now we have to wait for the container to come to Stockholm. If we are lucky it will be here in May.
