Jocke Wallström
We met Jocke Wallström, boss of A West Side Fabrication and organiser of Trästockfestivalen. We asked him about all those headline bands that couldn't come. Fireside had been invited on Lollapalooza, which was forgivable. But things got worse. Jocke told us the whole awful story.
Everyone possible then?
- You name it, and none of them had the time. Broder Daniel we had last year, and they played in Skellefteå only a month ago. Then Brainpool, it was such bloody bad luck, somebody's sister was getting married in London, so someone was there. Pineforest Crunch couldn't play because they were going to play up in Piteå, and that was too close, Piteå said no. Idiotic things like that. This Perfect Day, what happened with them, yes, the singer couldn't get time off work on such short notice. It was like that, we went after _everyone_. And we got hold of some, it was just smaller bands, that's all. Nothing we could do about it.
What about foreign bands come over early for Lollipop next week? We thought about Stereolab, of course...
- Stereolab are a good band, I'd really like to have them here, several times over! but it costs so much money, and we don't have that when we don't charge for entry and so on. Stereolab are quite a small band, alright, but they still cost quite a lot. Now the Archers of Loaf that we've got here, they're amazingly cheap.
Foolishly we missed the chance of asking just how cheap the Archers were, but we had to leave Jocke to his business and go off and see what our zero-kronor entry fee had, umm, bought us...
