This could only be Sweden! Him Kerosene turn out to be anything but boringly social-democrat (though it was tough following the lyrics, so maybe they were). Punk with tunes à la Superchunk, loud and fun. The moshpit is a big and very enthusiastic one. Tempting, of course, but someone has to stay behind and take notes...
Later we dragged Nils and Niclas away from watching Starmarket (but not quite out of earshot) and posed a few pertinent questions. Like, what did they think of the festival?
- Bloody good bands. And even the bands you don't think are going to be good turn out to be good as well..
How have things been since you started in the winter?
- In the beginning, it was like a kind of side project, both Kjell and Kristoffer had a punk band and me and Niclas were in another band.
- Me and Niclas went drinking and partying together and realised that we really had to do something together, because we had the same ideas and it had to be the same thing.
- Rehearsing went pretty well, about once every quarter. Then it's been a bit more since then, after we decided to release the first record, and part of a compilation, it's been quite hard since then.
What are you listening to at the moment?
- Big Black, Aretha is the one on the turntable. And Shellac had a new one out recently. I looked out their old record again. I listen a lot to that one at the moment.
And then we headed behind a skip for that scandalous photo session...
