Traestockfestivalen - Cloudberry Jam

Cloudberry Jam (main stage)
CBJ are a lot better live than on record. On CD, their brand of slick
fifties-style cafe-music sounds far too plush to work at this sort of
an event, but their Trästock performance shows that they are a
proper indie band live, and their set is a pleasant one. Jennie
Medin, stylishly kitted out in a long black and white checked skirt
makes her bid for the title of World's Coolest Tambourine player. We
tap our feet and smile. In the end there doesn't seem to be much
variety in the material, but Robert forgives them, and Kimmo is a
fan and doesn't care.

Later, we have a quick chat to Jennie while waiting to see
Daybehavior. She tells us that CBJ are off to Japan early next
morning. Playing stadiums? The band are archetypally Big in Japan,
but it'll just be 'big clubs', Jennie says. They don't get mobbed
like big stars, she tells us, but it's nice when people come just to
see you. 'Did you see the Archers of Loaf?' Jennie asks. She thought
they were really good, setting us wondering what influences to expect
on the next Cloudberry Jam LP...
