Pictures from motss.con XIII in Utrecht

Photographs by Robert - ask me if you want to use them for anything. Click on the thumbnails to see the full-size pictures.

For more Utrecht con pictures, see John Gintell's collection.

Thursday 15 June
Bike loo
Cyclists queue for Utrecht's world-famous bicycle toilet. Not that you can see the signs, or even the toilet doors - you had to be there, really.
With Nijntje
We visited the statue to Miffy (or Nijntje, as she's known in the original Dutch). L to R: Miffy, Ann, Marina, Robert, Lars. See also www.miffy.org (Photo: Ned)
More Miffy
Ann, Ned, Marina, Lars, with nattily-clad Miffy.
Rabbit fanciers
Ned (making the sign of the Rabbit), Marina, Lars, Miffy.
Friday 16 June
Butch-femme?
At the railway museum, Marina receives a call from an attractive lady.
Rail mirror
I like reflection pictures. Look carefully and you'll see me, Ned and Lars among the trains.
Ann
A first-class picture of Ann (with matching second-class carriage).
Lars
Lars with his Hips and Makers t-shirt on.
Ned
Ned looking quite serious in front of a well-polished steam engine
Robert
Robert meets another flying Scotsman (photo: Ned)
The mafia
Those sought-after con t-shirts, modelled by Chris, Robert, John and Marina (with ice-cream)
Doorway
No parking - doorway outside the museum. Blue stuff, bricks, signs, all stuff I like.
Gardening
I think this is an echeveria. In the distance, out of focus, some people you may recognise.
Life cycle
'Submerged bicycle'. See also 'The Making of Submerged bicycle'.

Pretty in pink
John (digital con photographer) on the canal tour
Troll hideout
Bridge from underneath. I liked the way the sunlit water lit up the underside of the (many) bridges we went under.
Architecture
Theatre (I think) reflected in the water - proving that canals are not always just brown.
An englishman and his cellphone
Chris keeping in touch with London on his Motorola. See also John's study of the con's Nokia contingent.
Option: Lars
Lars with his Pet Shop Boys t-shirt on.
Ned
Ned just before levitating through the boat's nooduitgang
More architecture
Utrecht's most striking building, looking quite marvellous among its older counterparts.
Sunday 18 June
Sodom
The amazing sodomite monument, with sundry con-goers' feet.
Reflected glory
The square behind the cathedral, as reflected (spot the motssers) in a stripey buiding.
Street art 1
Dutch multicoloured tags. Holland - it's not just orange any more.
Street art 2
Cheery graffito.
Glass ceiling
Robert (rainbow cap) and John (pink cap) spotted in the monastery's glass ceiling.
Bus stop
John and Robert unwittingly play heads bodies and legs with a straight couple at a bus stop.
Close
One of Utrecht's many narrow alleys.
Marina
Marina samples a cool beer at a canal pub. Ned blends into the background.
Ducks
One-duckling family on the Oudegracht. Larger duck families seemed to be rare: rats and other predators take their toll.
Hallo Ned
Ned introduces himself by beermat.
Utrecht water 1
Canal water - glorious sunny afternoon and plenty of bright-coloured things makes for pretty ripples.
Utrecht water 1
More pretty ripples.
Summer laptoppery
Random Utrechtian with laptop book and checked trousers.
The Return
Michael retraces his first visit to Utrecht. Strangely, no plaque marks the house where he stayed over.
