Greenpeace Statement on the Occasion of March 10, 1994Dear Tibetan People and Nation,
We are very aware of the environmental degradation and destruction of Tibet by the Chinese government and we totally support your demands for an immediate end to the illegal occupation of Tibet by the Chinese authorities in order to restore the environment, the culture and the religion of your nation.
It is with great awareness, respect and love that we want to be part of these people of all races, religions and culture that sympathize with your cause and call for "Freedom in Tibet". We therefore urge the Chinese government to stop the genocide in Tibet and join the efforts of many nations and organizations of the world working for so many years to establish a real and "sustainable" peace on Earth.
The first significant step to realize this humanitarian goal would be the implementation of the peace plan proposed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the spiritual chief of Tibet, in order to solve the conflict.
May this plan become a reality as well as the cultural, spiritual and environmental '"renaissance" of Tibet.
With all our heart,
Anne deGuise
