His Holiness The Dalai Lama visited Stockholm, Sweden in May 1996.
He was invited by Stiftelsen De Andra to speak on the Globe to schoolchildren.

Four monks from Namgyal monastery were also invited to create an Avalokiteshvara sandmandala at the former Museum of Contemporary Art (Moderna Museet) in Stockholm.

I have finally got an scanner and I want to show you some photos from the 10 wonderful days it took to create it.

I picked up the keys to the museum early in the morning on the 10th May 1996. I was alone and the huge room was empty and dusty and I had no idea what and when would happen.

Things appear and disappear with joined effort and four intesive workdays later the huge, dusty room was completely changed and stood ready for the 10day long creation of the Mandala. And when it was completed His Holiness the Dalai Lama came and held a ceremony.
It was the first time I had the opportunity to experience him in a Tibetan ceremony, and it was truely something else than the TVprograms I have seen.

I hope the pictures I have will give you a climpse of the rare beauty that appeared in Stockholm 14 - 23.5. 1996.
