PoA Sörlin is a self-taught musician from Orebro, Sweden who attributes much of his musical learning to computers.
He began playing classical guitar in his early teens, but eventually made the switch to electric guitar. In the 70's, He picked up the electric guitar by ear, and is thankful that he learned this way.
"That was a very important period in my life because I noticed that I really could learn an instrument by ear and...I discovered improvisation."
Quickly, he became captivated by the world of blues, jazz, and jazz rock music.
Much like other jazzers, PoA spent a great deal of time listening to his favorite artists and transcribing their famous licks.
"I was fascinated by the look of the notes and the good feeling of having accomplished something after transcribing a piece or a solo.
" In the 80's he enjoyed a period of gigging, on both the live music scene and in the recording studio.
The 90's brought him into the technological scene, as he learned to use an Atari computer for his musical printouts. As the world of computers evolved, he followed right along, upgrading his hardware and software, and seeking out any avenues to make his experience with music better through technology.
"In the late 90's the printouts of my music began to look quite good as the notation programs got better and more stable."
Presently, PoA works as a web designer, copyist, musician, composer and teacher (of notation programs!), and his pursuit of knowledge in both the musical and technological worlds has kept growing.
When possible, he uses the computer to further his musical learning, and is very glad that he found NOTION for those purposes.
"When I stumbled across NOTION I was amazed the simplicity of the user interface, all the instruments included in the program, all the friendly support from NOTION right from the start
would recommend anybody to try out NOTION!!"
