Darkfall
Unofficial FAQ -
Rules
What do you mean with free pvp?
Well basically means you can kill anyone and everything, anytime and
anywhere you want. But as in most worlds there are some laws. Most of
the laws are player made, some game mechanics.

(----): At the moment, the only cities that are NPC
driven, are the capitals. These are the starting points for
the characters of each of the races, so they will not let
people of evil alignment. This is to make it hard for
griefers to enter the city and kill all the newbies they
find. But it is *possible* to round up a big army and raid a
capital if that's what you want.in. |
PK? Griefer?

(Ricki): Being a PK is what Darkfall is built for. But
being a Player Killer (and not a griefer) means that you
kill enemies of your clan or race, not just anyone you feel
like. |
Alignment
Quote:
Quote
(Tasos + Ricki + Claus):
Alignment is definitely a controversial topic in our
community, but we believe we will get it right, and that it
will be a nice and welcome Darkfall feature.....there is an
aligment system. And this will be tuned during beta to find
out what works.....The aligment system will be a way of
seeing how people in general respect the rules of the game.
A person with evil aligment doesn't have to be a griefer,
and a person with very good alignment might not be the
nicest person in the world. How you interpret the alignment
is up to you, and how you govern your clan/city laws with
regards to alignment is also up to you.
Looting someone of your own race (or aligned races) you
haven't killed (then you are flagged criminal anyway), other
than in your clan or on your friends list will flag you as a
criminal for x minutes. So in this scenario:
Player A kills, flagged as criminal +xx to negative
alignment - guards attack
Player B loots, flagged as criminal + x to negative
alignment - guards attack
A dead body that is older than xx minutes, can be freely
looted. |
Laws
Quote:
Quote
(Tasos): Darkfall does not have a newbie island. However
new players are pretty safe close to the starting villages
(NPC guards protecting them), and reasonably safe in the
race homelands (NPC guards here and there, plus the
protection of having players of the same race running
around). There are no "safe zones" where you can't
be attacked, but you will still find that you are reasonably
safe in large areas of the world.
Most of the problems with griefers in other games, has been
the fact that there were no tools availible to make these
players face the consequences of their actions. In Darkfall
we are giving you the tools to punish these players, like
putting them on a KOS list, or not letting them into your
town if you want. |
Monster faction
Quote:
| Quote
(----): there won't be a faction system in Darkfall. In
general, monsters will react to you based on your alignment. |
Prisons
Quote:
| Quote
(Ricki): As we have said earlier, we really do not want
to make too much game mechanics that force people into a
prison or into any other restrictive situations just because
they are not playing the game how we would like them to play
it. We will most likely not hard-code how many times you can
kill a person before you go to prison, or automatically put
people on a KOS list after a certain amount of kills. |
City/kingdom/player made laws
A guild owning a city/territory/kingdom, can place players on a
restriction list so as to do one of the following or more.
Add player to KOS list. Not let the player respawn in area. A city can
also place out NPC guards to patrol.

(Ricki): The quote also clearly states that it is the
players that set the rules for the cities they own. So if
you are evil and want to enter a anti-pk town, then you
probably wont be able to. |
Can a guild declare war on a same race guild?
And how will that affect alignment?
Quote:
Quote
(Thanks to Beal from DF forums for finding this one): Yes,
Guild A can declare war on Guild B and Guild B can be of any
race, even same race guild. When two warring guilds fight
one another there will be no alignment penalty.

And the last one to summarize it
all

| Quote
(Tasos): It's up to you to find the way to handle your
problems with griefers |
