do with the reality. Zagoria is a country made up for gaming purpose only.
Pictures, intrigues personalities etc is there to spice up the story, but are
only the result of my imagination. These notes should not be mistaken as a
description of my attitude against different nationalities, religions, cultures
individuals etc.

When the news of that the royal plane had disappeared, a number of characters and factions showed up on the scene claiming the throne. Here are some of them:
 Major
Markus Doppelmeyer, also known
as Big Mack. He is in charge of the Zagorian army in Willhelmshafen and along
the Zagorian river. He claims that his mother were married to a cousin of
the king, and since everyone else is dead, he is next in line. His main
external backup comes from the American company Global Oil and Mining, GOM.
Agents from the CIA has also been reported flying in and out of the airport
of Willhelmshafen. In the campaign Big Mack's forces are played
along the rules for " Colonial Power/Settlers". |
 Big
Mac’s biggest supporter is GOM. Due to the risky situation at the oil fields, GOM have their own security force. It's not large in numbers but they are
quite well supplied and trained. The fact that the forces of GOM exists also
puts some tools in the hands of CIA to ensure that Big Mack stays in line.

 "Arbeit Macht Frei" (Labour
leads to Freedom) is the battle cry of the communist movement named the Zagoriche Arbeiter Partei, (ZAP).
ZAP have been active in the rural parts of Zagoria for a while and is
supported by communist regime in the Zagorian eastern neighbour Ariwana. In the
chaos after the PET-rebellion and the disappearance of the royal family,
ZAP executed a rapid and highly successful operation leaving them in control
of the major parts of the Neu Bavaria province ant it's capital München. As
a result, ZAP have in it's hands some good equipment and is now capable of
facing of with any major opponent.In the campaign ZAP is played along the
rules for "Peoples Popular Front". |
| In the eastern areas, a Ariwanian religious guerrilla has
established it's bases. To counter this, the Communist target nation, in
close cooperation with ZAP, are doing raids to secure the area. In the
campaign they are played along the rules for "Religious Movement". |
| The Peoples Republic of Ariwana, PRoA can not sit by and
not defend itself from the terrorists that are operating from Zagoria.
PRoA is therefore obliged to support it's struggling brothers in ZAP. Also,
the terrorist raids have caused a popular rage among the Ariwanan people.
The government of PRoA respects the integrity of the Zagorian territory, but
understands and supports any Ariwanian volunteers that want to go to
Zagoria to fight the terrorists. In the campaign, these Ariwanian
"volunteers" are played as "Superpower backed client force". |
 In Samyang lives the
self proclaimed Princess Ling-Ling, a bar owner and jet-set lady with a great eager
for money and power. She claims that the king were actuary on his way to a
divorce and to marry Ling-Ling instead. Her rights were all ready
written into the royal testimony. Unfortunately, no one have ever found the
document in question, but on the other hand, Ling-Ling is not known to go
easy on people that questions her orders. Her major support comes from the
Province of Samyang and the Asian population. On an early stage agents from
PRo China tried to explore these ethnical ties, but as Ling-Ling proved to
be a strong anti-communist, at the moment Beijing is blocked out of her
territory. Instead France is here major supporter. The motive mentioned by
the French president is that "If the Americans and the Russians are both
engaging in a conflict, there are big values at stake. France can not stand
beside and watch as the cake is sliced".In the campaign Ling-Ling's
forces are played along the rules for " Dictatorship". |
| The Zagorian workers
alliance, ZAWA, is a resistance movement that operates in the Zagorian delta
with GOM as their prime target. ZAWA demands that the incomes should stay in
the country and that the company has to protect the environment. ZAWA was
initially linked to French interests in the oil industry, but lately Beijing
seems to have managed to replace the French as their main sponsor. The
Chinese interest for environmental issues has been questioned... In the
campaign ZAWA is played along the rules for "Peoples Popular Front". |
| As a reaction to all
the left and right wing forces, the ZAMI, Zagorian armed forces of the
Middle, presents themselves as the Centre alternative. This movement has
it's roots in the PET-movement and is mainly operating in or near the bigger
cities. ZAMI are described as
the first true Centre extremists, a new concept that puzzles anyone that
deals with politics. Basically they fight anyone. In the campaign
ZAMI is played along the rules for "Religious Movement". |

As the picture slowly became clearer the loyalty of civilian and military authorities were started to be challenged. Large areas of the country is still neutral or disputed by two or more factions. The current situation is displayed on the map below.
