Figurspel / Wargaming

Modern (Post WW 2)

Here are some pictures of my 15 mm figures from Peter PigQRF, The Scene and Rebel mini's. They are intended to be used with their rule system AK-47 Republic, Warlord level conflicts in Africa and the middle east and possibly gaming a campaign in the Kingdom of Zagoria.

Characters in 15 mm

Here we can see the command group for "The Stairway to Heaven cult" (played as a AK-47 reloaded Religious Movement army). To the left is their charismatic leader, reverend L Zeppelin, with his personal body guard. The figures are from the special Peter Pig character pack. The two figures to the right comes from two different manufacturers. The guy in red t-shirt is a part of the Rebel mini's zombie hunters while the one with the axe and a "trophy" is made by the Scene.

Seven more figures from the Scene. The two "well equipped ladies" to the right comes from their Zombie hunter line while the rest is taken from "the Authorities". I have not yet made up my mind on how to use them in the game but something will pop up sooner or later.

The Zagorian Marine is now ready for action!

Well, admittedly, Die Marine is just a small branch within the Zagorian armed forces but the smaller unit, the sharper they look.

Her is an overview showing the entire unit. The infantry is formed on four bases of small arms and two bases with RPG's. For support they have access to two M8 Greyhound armoured, two Patrol Boat River (PBR) and two unarmed Landing crafts.

A close up on some of the infantry and one of the M8's. They are all from QRF (Modern Soviet paratroopers and US WW1 armoured cars).

The two PBR's are from Peter Pig

The landing crafts are scratch built out if wood. They where really easy and quick to make. (Waiting for the glue to dry was the most time consuming...)

First we have an assortment of "Professional troops". They can serve as the Royal Zagorian Life Guard, the Zagorian Airborne company or mercenary groups like the famous "Wild Ducks", known from several operations in Bongolesia and lately also in Zagoria. There are four groups with Small arms, one with HMG and three with mortars. Posing with them are also two of the PP characters that can serve as overall commanders. These are some really good looking figures with a classical British aura.

Something's are easier being a dictator, some can be harder. Providing top-line equipment to your army usually falls into the later category, as the international community tend to interfere when you write your shopping list. Instead one has to settle with second hand equipment... or French.

Here we can see the entire mechanised component of the Zagorian army.  From the left there are two Panhard Armoured cars with 90mm tank guns (PP) Then come a French AMX13 tank (QRF), in the background a South African  Ratel 20 APC (QRF), beside that one a US M3 Halftrack (PP). Next to the AMX are two small Brittish made Ferret's, armoured cars with HMG's (QRF) and to the far right a US M( armoured scout car.

The backbone of any army is the infantry, and that goes for this particular dictator as well. Here we can se him proudly posing while the troops parade in the background. The Small arms groups are a mix of French foreign legion small arms and command pack while the two RPG's at the front are Israeli's. At the rear you will once again see the problem a dictator has while shopping. His artillery corps has to rely on ww 2 guns of Russian and German origin. The crew are from the French foreign legion line. (All figures and equipment  are from Peter Pig)

There are also some lighter forces available. These guys can play the role as Military Police, Airforce ground defence or Marines. (Has anyone thought about why some air force's persists in issuing BLUE uniforms with a camouflage pattern to their ground forces?) This blue unit can field five groups of small arms, one HMG and one mortar. For support they have two Toyota pickups with HMG's and one with a really heavy RCL - Watch out!

Of the same design as the Blue's above are the security forces employed by the multinational company  Global Oil and Mining (GOM). The only difference (beside the colour) is the GOM commander.

A game like AK-47 would not be fun without the rebels. Here are the tanks I use for either the left wing guerrilla called ZAP (Zagoriche Arbeiter Partei) or the "Peace keeping force" from the neighbouring Republic of Ariwana. Currently I have two Russian T-34 and two German Panzer IV (after all, Zagoria is a former German colony so some vintage equipment should show up). Leader of the task force is the former WW 2 veteran Günter Gazell. At the age of 82 he can occasionally be a bit confused and forget that the T-34's are now on his team. Still, he is the best men around when it comes to driving a Panzer IV so the guys are still behind him. (all tanks are PP)

APC's and one truck mounted AA that may be carrying rebels or invading foreign troops.  There is one BTR-70 (QRF), one BTR-152 (PP) and one Hanomag-truck with a ZPU-4 AA.

Ariwanan infantry are easy to recognize by their bright red hoods. Here are 8 groups of small arms, four with RPG's, one with a mortar and one with a HMG. At the far right is their secret weapon, an Russian made Anti aircraft gun-ZPU-1. All figures are PP Palestinians or militia with cap.

Then we have some generic militias with small arms and RPG's. They can fight for more or less anyone but on this page they are parading for my religious leader Reverend L Zeppelin of the "Stairway to heaven-cult" (who caused some rumble in Knutendorf lately)

The militia have an assortment of heavier stuff that can cause trouble to anyone who is not careful. They have four RCL's of various sizes, two HMG's and two mortars in their arsenal. (all figs are PP).

Proudly presenting the first intelligence photos from the secret training camp of ZAP. Harden militia in mixed clothing with only a red badge in their cap to identify. (all PP).

"The Purple gang" is I call these 15 mm Fedayeen soldiers from Rebel mini's.  They can serve as the hardcore unit in any rebellious army or as plain criminals (some would probably ask "what's the difference?"). They mix well with PP figs.

No conflict without a Russian looking unit. These figures are QRF Soviet paratroopers but painted in urban-style camouflage. So far they have made one appearance in my Zagorian campaign as "Zpetznaz", a freelancing unit formed by some ex-KGB/GRU agents. The figures mix well with the rest of my collection.

My truck fleet. Four Toyotas six Hanomag-trucks frpm Peter Pig. They were easy to assemble, just glue the wheels in position and you're done. The two remaining trucks in the upper left corner are from QRF ww2 range. One is an Opel and one is some kind of US army standard trucks. The QRF proved to be trickier as they contained many parts and these parts didn't really fit. The isn't too good looking but on the other hand, what vehicle in an Zagorian army is?

And finally some civilians. In the middle there are a group of figures from Rebel minis, three prisoners/hostages guarded by one of their Zombie hunters. The by standers are PP Civilians and Media teams taking eye witness reports of the event. At the front you can see a media team getting the words from miss Vienna Dupree (also known from the rumble in Knutendorf scenario). She is from a pack from Preiser, a german railroad scenery company. The prisoner/hostages match well with PP while the Zombie hunters are just a little bit taller. The Preiser figures are in scale 1:100 but are notably smaller then the rest, perhaps because they lack the base that all other figures comes with. Maybe I should check their extensive HO range?

A close up on a Toyota.

Below you will find some pictures on the real thing. Wrecks loaded with weapons and garbage, usually manned by troops high on kat.
