Water Rats

Unfortunately, Swedish television has only shown us the first season of this Australian police series, set in Sydney and dealing with the staff of the Sydney Water Police. This is a good show, with exciting storylines, and a very nice and unexpected twist at the end of the first season! It would have nice to see the further developments of the characters in later season, but I guess that would have been asking to much of Swedish Televion...

Some of my favourite characters are:

Rachel Goldstein
She is a wonderful lady, who is caught between her job and her personal life. Recently divorced from her creep-husband, she is fighting for custody of her son, David, while struggling with a very demanding career!

Frank Holloway
He is a bit rough, I guess, but somewhere deep down inside, I think he's just a big, cuddly teddy-bear! He certainly can be tough when it's needed though. He had some family problems, with his brother Jimmy spending time in prison and blaming Frank for getting caught, and his other brother, Kevin, who followed in Frank's footstepts and became a cop - but tragically was killed.

Clark Webb
The boss of the Water Police (sorry, I don't know his proper title!), and a very nice man! He is kind and righteous and always wants the best for everybody. In one case, a former girlfriend of his came to him with information. He got involved with her again, but terminated the relationship before it got out of hand. Still, his wife left him, and the incident was also discovered by Internal Affairs. Rather than being dismissed, Clark decided to resing. A little trivia : Clark's wife Susan - who appeared in two episodes - is played by well-known The Flying Doctors actress Liz Burch (who played Dr. Chris Randall).
