I saw Sound of Music in Stockholm in September 1996. It was a great production, starring Tommy Körberg and Carola Häggkvist. I am always very impressed with young children perfoming - in TV shows and movies naturally, but even more so in musicals and theatre productions, as they are preforming life! And this was no exception. The van Trapp children were all very talented and you could see they all had a wonderful time on stage - which I think is very important!
The story is
good, but I sometimes get the feeling that it's a bit to happy at the end (if
you haven't noticed already: I don't really like happy endings!). I know the
musical is based on a true story, so I guess I can't argue to much ... but I'm
not that fond of storylines where troubles are overwhelming and getting worse by
the minute - until the end when everything suddenly turns out great and
everybody lived happily ever after! (I wonder why I like Disney movies as much
as I do, since they all tend to be like that ...)
Naturally, I
have also seen the Sound of Music-movie with Julie Andrews and
Christopher Plummer. I like it a lot, the music in general is terrific, and the
child actors in the movie are also great!
