As of yet, I have "only" read two of David Eddings' book series: The Belgariad and The Mallorean, and I love them! The fantasy world he has created in these books is wonderful and the storylines are marvellous! I love the way he is creating so much background to the stories, there is true history behind everything that occurs in the books, and that gives it a sense of reality even though you know it is fantasy.

Some of my favourite characters:

Garion
Somewhat of a "classic hero", you can't help but like him a lot! In these kinds of books, heroes are definately needed. I love seeing Garion grow up, from a young boy who has no idea what the world is all about or what he is getting himself into, into a mature family man and a famous and powerful sorcerer, and a king, with all those duties and responsibilities.

Belgarath
A wonderful character with lots of different faces. The funny storyteller wandering around the countryside, Garion's grandfather (with quite a lot of "great"s before ...) and Polgara's father. He's also Aldur's first and beloved disciple and probably the most powerful sorcerer ever. His wide range makes him very very easy to like, wether he is seriously trying to defeat the dark powers of the world, or playing around trying to steal something from Polgara's kitchen.

Ce'Nedra
Who can avoid falling in love with this adorable little creature? She's a completely spoiled brat in the beginning, but she really grows and takes on quite a lot of responsibilities along the way. The biggest one, without a doubt, is being a mother!

Silk
Of course! The comedy character personified - Prince Kehldar always makes me laugh! Especially when young Liselle starts her campaign to win his heart, reading about those two together is a joy!

Beldin
A rather complex character - he is a joy to try to figure out! So tough and rough on the outside, yet somehow a bit of a "softie" on the inside! I like the relationship between Polgara and Beldin, both of them ashamed to show love and affection openly, and therefore having found their own way of expressing these feelings. I just love the "ending" for Beldin!

Durnik
This really noble and honest, yet "simple", man captured my heart at once! He is a bit out of his league in The Belgariad, but his love for Polgara is wonderful to see. And his part in the big fight between Belgarion and Torak at the end of The Belgariad always makes me cry - as does the follow-up, when Polgara finds out what her "sacrifice" really meant.
