Lough Carra is a beautiful lake with its crystal clear water and white marl bottom. It's one of the great western lakes of Ireland and have a good population of big trout. Lough Carra has an area of 4,000 acres. It is approximately 6 miles long and varies in width from 400 yards to 1 mile. Public access to the Lough is good and the chief access points are Brownstown, Moorehall and Castleburke. We fished the Lough in the evening with some success.
