Astrology SoftwareMy requirements specification |
| Factor = The interpretative factors sun, moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, moon's nodes, Asc, and MC. (I don't use Chiron etc.) |
| Radix | Forecasting | Relationship analysis | |
| Methods: |
N/A |
WHAT
I REQUIRE: Secondary progressions using the key "one true solar day = one revolution of the earth around the sun", i.e. one axis rotation relative to the sun corresponds to one orbital revolution. Solar arc directions. Transits. |
WHAT
I REQUIRE: Synastry. |
| Positions: | WHAT
I REQUIRE: An Ebertin style chart showing the positions. A list showing the positions and how far each planet moves the next 24 hours, and how far Asc and MC moves the next 4 minutes. I use sun, moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, North Mean node, Asc, and MC. |
WHAT
I REQUIRE: Forecast positions for a date, time and place of my choise. The positions shown in a chart for the method used. The positions shown in a chart with radix plus one or more of the forecast methods. This must be possible to do in any combination of zodiacal and 90-degree circles of my choise. Progressions: A list showing the positions and how far each of the factors moves the next 12 months. Transits: A list showing the positions and how far each planet moves the next 24 hours, and how far Asc and MC moves the next 4 minutes. Solar arc directions: A list showing the positions, and the value of the solar arc in degrees and minutes. |
WHAT
I REQUIRE: Synastry chart. The other chart types might be useful for experimentation but are not necessary. |
| Aspects: | WHAT
I REQUIRE: Aspect table and list. Lines in the chart would be nice. I wish to use a separate color for each aspect configuration, e.g. the opposition and the squares of a T-square are displayed in red colour, and in green for another T-square in the same chart. Being able to click on each aspect line and costumixe its colour, thickness etc, would be really nice. |
WHAT
I REQUIRE: For a selectable forecast-date
I need a list with the starting, exactness and ending dates/times for each aspect For a selectable forecast period I need a list with the same contents as mentioned above. The start, exactness and end dates/times must be calculalated for every aspects being within orb for any part of the selected forecast period. For transits and progressions:The date/time for the planet's exact station. It is important that no aspects are lost in the vicinity of a planet's station, and that the starting and ending times are handled correctly when the planets are close to stations. It would be nice to have the option the set a wider orb for stationary planets. For the progressions I need the dates for sign ingresses of all factors, and the lunar phases. I will really appreciate a list showing the times when transits activates progressions and directions using costumizable rules for what shall be regarded as an activation. In all lists it has to be possible to select which factors, aspects etc to be shown. Ebertin style grahpical ephemeris for progressions, directions, and transits. |
WHAT
I REQUIRE: Aspect table or list with aspects between the charts. (I don't use composite or time/place-midpoint charts.) |
| Sensitive points: Midpoints, arabian parts, etc. |
WHAT
I REQUIRE: Possibility to choose whether the midpoints shall be shown in the chart. List with midpoints and factors sorted in. Midpoint tree with selectable orb for each aspect and factor. Ebertin himself used 2° orb for direct midpoints and 1°30' for indirect midpoints, and 2° for every midpoint aspecting sun, moon, Asc or MC. |
WHAT
I REQUIRE: Possibility to choose whether the midpoints shall be shown in the chart. For a selectable forecast-date I need a list with the forecast's midpoints and factors sorted in a selectable circle (45°, 90° etc) in degree order and planetary order (Sun/Moon, Sun/Mercury, etc). Also, the angle between every pair of factors must be shown. A list with the starting, exactness and ending dates/times
for For transits and progressions it is important that no aspects are lost in the vicinity of a planet's station, and that the starting and ending times are handled correctly when the planets are close to stations. It would be nice to have the option the set a wider orb for stationary planets. For a selectable forecast period I need a list with the same contents as mentioned above. I will really appreciate a list showing the times when transits activates the midpoints highlighted by progressions or directions using costumizable rules for what shall be regarded as an activation. In all lists it has to be possible to select which factors, midpoints, and aspects to be shown. |
WHAT
I REQUIRE: List or midpoint tree showing the factors of each person placed in the other person's midpoints. |
| Interpretation texts: | WHAT
I REQUIRE: Editable interpretations for the factors in the zodiac signs, aspects, and midpoint configurations. Of each is required two sets: |
WHAT
I REQUIRE: Editable interpretations for - Progressed factors in the signs, - Aspects from progressed factors to progressed factors and radix factors, - Aspects from directed factors to radix, - Aspects from transiting factors to radix factors, - Aspects from progressed factors to progressed midpoints and radix midpoints, and from progressed midpoints to radix factors (same interpretations for all), - Aspects from directed factors to radix midpoints, - Aspects from transiting factors to radix midpoints and vice versa (same interpretations). Of each is required two sets: |
WHAT
I REQUIRE: Editable interpretations for the aspects between one person's factors to the other's factors and midpoints. Of each is required two
sets: |
| 90°-circles (Ebertin): | WHAT I
REQUIRE: Selectable number of Ebertin style 90° circles in radix, forecast, and synastry charts. |
||
| Polar latitudes: | WHAT I
REQUIRE: The retrograde ascendant shall be marked with a retrograde tag in the same way as retrograde planets. The user must have possibility to
choose how MC shall behave in polar latitudes. Options at the time of
coinciding axes: |
||
| Make ephemeris: | WHAT I
REQUIRE: Selectable options: Transits (the usual ephemeris) or secondary progressions, time period (starting and ending date), interval between calculations (every 12 hours, every 24 hours, every year etc), calculation time (noon, midnight, selectable time), optional inclusion of planets and sidereal time and day of week etc. Aspectarian: The time transiting planets forms exact aspects, enter another zodiac sign, makes a station etc. Same for progressions including the ascendant and MC |
||
| Person database: | WHAT I
REQUIRE: Birth data can be saved, edited, and deleted. Possibility to make notes (who the person is, source of birth data etc). |
||
| Atlas: | WHAT I
REQUIRE: Add, edit and delete places. |
||
| Costumization: | WHAT I
REQUIRE: Setting the orb in degrees and minutes
for: 2) Each of the ascpects between each of the factors to each of the midpoints, e.g. 2° orb for all aspects from the sun to midpoints, and 2° for all conjunctions and oppositions to midpoints and 1°30' for every other aspect to the midpoints. These settings must be made individually for radix, each of the forecast methods, and each the methods for relationship analysis. For the forecast methods each of the above settings must have an individual applying and separating orb. Other: ... and a lot of other options - in short give me it all! |
||
| Installation: Uninstallation: |
WHAT I
REQUIRE: Automated installation guide. Automated uninstall guide removing all files and registry entries created by the program. The user must be asked what the program shall do with charts and other files he has created (delete them, leave them, or move them to another folder). |
||
| Miscellaneous: | WHAT I
REQUIRE: Full support for the Ebertin method (charts with 90° circles, graphical ephemeris, perfect handling of midpoints). Synodic periods (only if the program can calculate them exactly; otherwise I look it up in the ephemirs aspectarian). |
||
| Useability: | WHAT I
REQUIRE: The program must be very intuitional, e.g. everything must be self-evident from the design of menues, naming of function and options, etc. |
||
| A source of irritation is that some of programs use the same names for their fonts. This forces you to uninstall the fonts used by other programs (thereby reducing their useability). Programmers, please don't use font names already used by another astrology program! | |||
