Explanation to
the Astrodienst horoscope

Astrodienst's instructions are pretty clear. However, the following might be of some help to the novice:

• First find your place of birth in the atlas.
  The availability of this atlas is an advantage. A slight drawback is that it not allways gives the correct coordinates for the city and does not give you a chance to correct it (usually the discrepancy only is some minute of arc, and for most cases that doesn't have any practical importance).

• Then type in your birth data.
  A drawback with this calculation service is that you can't type in the time zone and daylight savings correction. You must rely on that the calculation program makes the correct adjustments.

• The calculated chart uses three-letter abbreviations for the planets and zodiac signs.

Example:

Mer 26Sco30'13"  means that the planet Mercury has the position 26 degrees 30 minutes of arc 13 seconds of arc into the zodiac sign of Scorpio. Each zodiac sign spans an angle of 30 degress. It takes 360 degrees for one revolution around the zodiac. It takes 60 minutes of arc for one degree. It takes 60 seconds of arc for one minute of arc. Usually the seconds of arc are rounded off. Said with the astrologer's words: Mercury is in 26 degrees 30 minutes Scorpio.
