The Sailingship Helene was built at Ystad Shipyard in
1916 by shipbuilder Johan Henrik Grufstedt. Up until the year 1967
she sailed as cargoship, mainly in the Baltic-sea and on the
Westcoast. These ships were called Baltic Traders. Not untill
the year 2000 Helene could return to her old homeport
Ystad. The association Ystads Segelfartygsförening bought the
historical ship, with the intention of makeing her into a
trainingship. During summermonths 20 trainees and 7 crew sails her,
mainly in the Baltic-sea and Danish waters. During the summer
Helene also makes evening-sails with
passengers. She is also available for charter. |
