FAKE IN THE CHARTS, ON TV AND
Fake did have some chartsucess especially with Brick.
It hit the number one spot in Italy and Greenland (swedish Wikipedia says Greece.
That sounds possible because there is only two letters differing them in swedish.
It was also awarded a grammy for the best foreign song in France, where it
also reached the number six spot on the hitlist.
In Italy Donna rouge was a very big hit. (Even bigger than Brick)
It was top 10 on their hitlist for a long time.
Fake with some of their Italian friends.
In Sweden they were not as well known as in Italy and France. They
never charted on official swedish charts for sale "Topplistan".
They did however chart on famous swedish radio chart "Tracks"
twice. First in october 1984 with Memories of pan that reached
the number 9 spot and then with their biggest swedish hit Brick
in december 1985. It climbed as high as the number 6 spot.
In Sweden they also made a tv appearance on popprogram "Bagen".
They recorded Rain over the Nile, Arabian toy and Brick live.
Arabian toy where unfortunately deleted when the show was
broadcasted on tv.
In Italy they appeared on tv at least twice. In 1984 they sang
Donna rouge on Rai program Disco-ring. On the same show they also
performed Brick. Disco-ring was a big happening where "Festival
bar" travelled around Italy with artists performing playback-shows
on very big arenas.
Fake also performed at a lot of different tvprograms in France
Fake made one big summertour in Sweden before recording Brick.
They actually were given swedish popband Gyllene tiders tour dates
due to their cancellation. Gyllene tider had the singer and
songwriter Per Gessle in the band. He later founded Roxette.
