Gertrud Berger

Librarian, M. Lis. (Library and information science)
e-mail: gertrud.berger@bredband.net

I'm a librarian with many years experience from the public as well as the private sector. I have been project leader, specialist within bibliographic development, trainer/teacher and middle leader.

The rapid development of information technology together with new media consumption habits are new challenges for the library in its role as cultural and learning center for the community.

I focus on the user, and have been seeking projects aiming at improving the availability and use of library services, making them independent of space and time. The more users, the better!

My jobs have often been within the library's core mission to collect, preserve, organize and provide access to information and experiences independent of media type aiming at the creation of a physical and digital library meeting the users and non-users requirements. I have worked with information retrieval, metadata resource description, enriched data and controled vocabularies, but also the media themselves and the way they are disseminated. I have worked with user training, teaching, pedagogical issues, competitive intelligence, business processes, evaluation and competence development.
