| This is an explanation of the FIFe and Independent (IDP) title system, meant as a help for those of you that are more used to the TICA and CFA system. |
| To gain a title in FIFe / IDP you have to collect certificate (same as winner ribbons) and your cat is only judged by one judge during a show and often in Europe there are two shows the same weekend (possible to get two certificates) would make it impossible to get a one show grand! |
Titles for unneutered cats: |
| CH (Champion) - A cat must
have been awarded CAC (Certifikat d'Aptitude Championat) (need 93 points to gain this
certificate) 3 times judged by 3 different judges in the same country to earn this title This title is placed as a prefix |
| IC (International Champion)
- A cat must have been awarded CACIB (Certifikat d'Aptitude Championat International
Beaute) (need 95 points to gain this certificate) 3 times judged by 3 different judges in
two countries to earn this title This title is placed as a prefix |
| GIC (Grand International Champion)
- A cat must have been awarded CAGCIB (Certifikat d'Aptitude Grand Championat
International) (need 96 points to gain this certificate) 6 times judged by 4 different
judges in three different countries to earn this title This title is placed as a prefix |
| EC (European
Champion or Champion of Europe) A cat must have been awarded CACE
(Certifikat dAptitude Championat dEuropé) (need 97 points to gain this
certificate) 9 times judged by 6 different judges in three
countries to earn this title This title is placed as a prefix |

| PR (Premier) - A cat must
have been awarded CAP (Certifikat d'Aptitude Premier) (need 93 points to gain this
certificate) 3 times judged by 3 different judges in the same country to earn this title This title is placed as a prefix |
| IP (International Premier)
- A cat must have been awarded CAPIB (Certifikat d'Aptitude Premier International Beaute)
(need 95 points to gain this certificate) 3 times judged by 3 different judges in two
countries to earn this title This title is placed as a prefix |
| GIP (Grand International Premier)
- A cat must have been awarded CAGPIB (Certifikat d'Aptitude Grand Premier International)
(need 96 points to gain this certificate) 6 times judged by 4 different judges in three
different countries to earn this title This title is placed as a prefix |
| EP (European Premier or Premier of Europe) A cat must
have been awarded CAPE (Certifikat dAptitude Premier
dEuropé) (need 97 points to gain this certificate) 9 times judged by 6 different judges in three countries to earn this title This title is placed as a prefix |
Titles earned on special shows: |
| WW (World
Winner) This title is given to all cats that gain a BIS on the special WW
show that are arranged once yearly and a suffix containing the year is added to this
title. For example if a cat gains the WW title in 2003 the title would be WW03. This title is placed as a prefix. |
| SW (Scandinavian
Winner) This title is given to all cats that gain a BIS on the special SW
show that are arranged once yearly and a suffix containing the year is added to this
title. For example if a cat gains the SW title in 2003 the title would be SW03. This title is placed as a prefix. |
Titles earned in breeding: |
| DM (Distinguished Merit) -
A female cat must have produced at least 5 cats which gained the title IC / IP and a male
cat mush have produced at least 10 cats which gained the title IC / IP This title is placed as a suffix |
Titles earned in winning many shows: |
| DSM (Distinguished Show Merit)
- A cat must have been Best In Show at least 10 times. It has to be at least two years and
one day from the first to the last Best In Show the gain this title (This is a new title so Best In Shows earned before 2003 is not counted for the DSM title) This title is placed as a suffix |
| JW (Junior Winner) - A
kitten (3-10 months of age) must have been Best In Show at least 5 times to gain this
title This title is placed as a suffix |
FIFe & IDP Show Titles Explanation: |

| BIV (Best In Variety = Best Of Colour) There must be three cats to give this award and the neuters are competing by themselves, and to gain this title the cat has to receive at least 95 points (If there are more then 3 cats in a BIV category then they are divided into BIV kitten 3-6 month, BIV kitten 6-10 month and BIV adult) In Independent are all cat competing against eachother for the BIV and the neuters are in the same competition as the unneutered |
| BIG (Best In Group = Best In Division) - The divisions are divided into Solid-, Tabby-, Himalayan-, Bi-colour and at last silver-group (Independent counts the partucolor division to solid and Silver & Golden division is together with the Smoke & Shaded division in the Silver group) |
| BIR (Best In Raise) The best cat in the raise its the same as best of breed in CFA except the Persian that are divided to different divisions in CFA and Independent dont divide the Persians to different divisions |
| NOM (Nomination) All judges take out their NOM for the BIS panel and they are divided into NOM adult male / female, NOM neuter male / female, NOM kitten 3-6 month and NOM kitten 6-10 month. To gain this title the cat has to receive at least 97 points. |
| BIS (Best In Show) Are divided into BIS adult, BIS neuter (if a male is BIS the female get the BOX-title (Best Opposite Sex)), BIS kitten 3-6 month and BIS kitten 6-10 month (In the kitten class both genders are competing together) |

| Best Over All Best cat in the show (best of all the BOB cats that are competing against each other to gain this title!) |
