eggstone
'april and may'
it's no great surprise
to see one of the best songs from eggstone's third album released as a
single. but the last of the three bonus tracks really lift you from
the ground: 'mizu', 'water' in japanese, remade into a stomping bossa
version. the amazing charm of it all compensates for the fact that per
sunding has to concentrate so hard on his japanese, that his singing
is a tad more unstable than usual. (note: this reviewer has failed to
recognize the real vocalist on 'mizu' - hideki kaji!)
'penguin' is a short, instrumental tune that combines the moody feel
from the persuaders theme, with the theme from the swedish 70's
detective series 'ärliga blå ögon'. 'waiting for the bell' is more of
a real song, and really far too good to be hidden away on an ep.
value for money.
