notes:
re-issue of the 'shooting time'
7". the promotional 12" single came in a white sleeve
with blank labels. it was pressed - or perhaps the stamper was
made - on 1992/06/24, according to the
etching in the run-out groove.
liner notes:
eggstone has developed a completely
new and refreshing sound in the field of popular music. their
sparkling rhythmic treatments, with a vocal chorus used as a
section of the orchestra singing syllables rather than words, were
one of the freshest new ideas in popular music since the early
sixties.
there are several distinct
qualities that are always found in any supersound album. first of
all, the vivid sound. to achieve this eggstone has worked many
long hours with their own sound engineer, dr. thore w. johansson
jr. the choice of songs is always tasteful and musically the band
is always superb, because of the painstaking efforts of its
perfectionist members.
eggstone has always had a special
knack for featuring great musicians on their albums. the metro
string orchestra plays the mellow stringphrases on 'wrong heaven',
bernie leighton is the features pianist throughout the album, and
doc severin together with ray connif plays those exciting trumpets
on 'my trumpets'. don fagerquist, the top-line vibraphonist
certainly makes a tremendous come back on 'wrong heaven', treating
his instrument almost like a furious spotted eagle ray.
the four songs selected on this
eggstone-single will certainly be among the biggest hits to come
in our decade. and each is certain to recall many pleasant
memories to all listeners throughout the world.
the title song, 'shooting time',
gets things started with a delightfully happy sound and infectious
beat. a new eggstone rhythmic sound is heard for the first time in
'doesn't matter' as repetitive rhythms of guitars add a brand new
dynamic richness to the band's heavy beat.
verily, the single-album is a
pleasure-plus product, but through the magic of supersound
high-fidelity recording it costs you no more to enjoy the best
that eggstone and friends have to offer.
