Getting the Damage badges

Pre-accolades
The key to getting a lot of damage is to 'Rest'. When you rest you take way more damage. As long as you don't have the accolades that gives you a HP bonus you want to get a steady stream of damage. What you can take depends on your archetype. I preferred using two Council Galaxy. As long as they use their distance attack they do great damage-over-time enabling me to take more damage.

Important: Do NOT use any powers that increase your HP, like 'Dull Pain'. Just like the accolades, the extra HP won't count for the badges (keep reading to understand that)

Post-accolades
Once you get the accolades you get into trouble. Some accolades increase your Max HP. Sounds good doesn't it? well, it's not for badgehunters. Damage done within the 'buff' doesn't count for damage badges. So if you get 200 HP as bonus, you have to get more than 200 HP damage before the damage count. If your health goes up, you have to get below that again. Example:

A minion hits you for 300 HP and you have a 200 HP bonus from the accolades. Only 100 HP counts for the badge. If you regen to full health before the minion hits you again, the same goes for the next hit.

So the trick is to get below that bonus and keep the damage ticking. In solo mode that's darn hard. You pretty much have to try different minions and find something that suits your AT. You want minions that do A LOT of damage in one hit, but won't hit you too often. I'm doing two different setups:

Example one: One CoT Guide +1 level (yellow) close-up (with the sword). Awesome one-hit damage but long recharge. Safe for everyone. This is what most people seem to use. I use 2 guides, one at a distance shooting arrows. With accolades that almost doubles my dam. count.

Example two: One blue minion (-1 level) and one green(-2 levels) minion DE (Deathblossom, Rubble) with my AoE heal power on Auto. The rubble has a fast recharge on his attack keeping dam below the accolade threshold and the deathblossom do a lot of damage and has a long recharge. I would die fast if they both always hit me, but they both miss enough to keep me alive as long as I use my healing power. Without it I'd be dead very fast.

Example two just shows that you really have to try pretty weird setups. I couldn't take a white and a blue minion, so I levelled up and tried the same mission and it turned out to be absolutely borderline perfect. I almost die all the time, but after 12 hours without a single death I was confident it works.

The cheaters method (any 2 players required )
There's another way too. Use the Arena. Have someone pound you to pieces while you 'Rest'. Some people use a fire brute with his PBAoE doing damage-over-time and one more power on autohit. This way you can perfect the maximum damage you can take in a very safe way.

The über method (Requires a healer and 2 enemies or more)
The fastest way is to get a healer to join you too. With the Single heal power on auto you can take at least x2 damage compared to soloing. You can do that in any mission, but with another 2 buddies you can grind some serious damage in the arena. The healer, of course, can work on his healing badges this way too...

Characters with a lot of HP can even get 2 healers to heal them and thereby be able to take some truly huge damage. I know of a regen scrapper that at one time had 3 empaths working on him! :p

The über-über method (Requires you to be low lvl and a high level friend to help you)
At a low lvl, say 32, get a high lvl to invite you to a high lvl mission. Get 2 CoT guides to hit you close-up with swords and your friend to heal you. The rule of no-one-hit-kills will leave you with 1 hp every hit and your high level friend should be able to heal you before next hit! If your friend can't heal from a distance you can only cope with a single guide, and your friend needs to stay away to avoid aggro. Let him LK you until you're in the 'rest' position, then drop lk when you're at full health. A bit tricky, but awesome dam.
