I am thinking that if a publisher somewhere would like to use this mandala in some setting, that a parts of the proceedings should be passed on
to support revered Dalai Lamas organization, to draw attention to the causes that the artist or artists involved in such wonderful works as the one above
have worked their passion to express through the media of canvas and paint. Formal details to be worked out if an interestee let their interest be known.

As I am the owner of this painting I believe I am in the right to present it here on this site, and with great pleasure I do so as it has been with me a long time and I really would like to share the incredible beauty of it. I bought it in New Delhi in India in 1981 and was told in the shop that it was painted by a Tibetan monk from Dharamsaala. Below is a scan of the painters signature and seal from the back.

I am not all that familiar with Buddhist symbolism, though I know a little bit about it. So if you, whomever you may be, in reading this, if you have the neccessary knowledge of the field of Tibetan painting to decode the symbolism here then please do let me know what this painting really tells. Below is the Vedic 'Creation' verse, which talks of original warmth, of desire. I thought it fitting here.

Rishi: Prajâpati Paramesthin
Deity: Creation
Metre: Tristup

Creation

Then was not non-existent nor existent;
there was no realm of air, no sky beyond it.
What covered it, and where? And what gave shelter?
Was water there, unfathomed depth of water?

Death was not then, nor was there aught immortal;
no sign was there, the day’s and night’s divider.
That One Thing, breathless, breathed by its own nature:
apart from it was nothing whatsoever.

Darkness there was; at first concealed
in darkness this All was indiscriminated chaos.
All that existed then was void and formless:
by the great power of Warmth was born that Unit.

Thereafter rose Desire in the beginning,
Desire, the primal seed and germ of Spirit.
Sages who searched with their hearts thought
discovered the existent’s kinship in the non-existent.

Transversely was their severing line extended;
what was above it then, and what below it?
There were begetters, there were mighty forces,
free action here and energy up yonder.

Who verily knows and who can here declare it,
whence it was born and whence comes this creation?
The Gods are later than this world’s production.
Who knows then whence it first came into being?

He, the first origin of this creation,
whether He formed it all or did not form it,
Whose eye controls this world in highest heaven,
He verily knows it, or perhaps he knows not.

At www.the-brights.net a naturalistic stance is held
on the whys and whereofs of our lives - and the meaning of it all.
I now and then, as time permits, do a bit 'a posting on their discussion forums

under the alias 'Albatross'.

I do not hold to anyones agenda and do not endeavour to presume
upon anyone an agenda of mine. The ideas presented here, in these pages,
in no way represent any general views held by participators at The Brights' forums,
although from my side I hold an affinity for some of their views. / Albatross
