442 Canvas does not allow..

Problem: Getting error "Canvas does not allow."

1: When running a form inputing data.
Versions: P11.302
Environment: Win 98 SE

I just got off the phone with a Corel/Paradox Tech Support man who placed most of the blame for this problem on Windows 98's inherent "Resource leakage", and, very confidently, suggested that upgrading to Windows XP or 2000 will solve the problem.

Get more video RAM.
Reduce the number of installed fonts to less than 300 (less than 200 if you don't care about fonts enough to need more than 200 at once).
Change your video settings (to use less or more colors, depending on where you're at now). (This is a guess.)

2: When designing forms and editing data in forms.
Versions: P8-P9
Environment: Win 98SE

I get this WAY too often in Pdox 8. Also causes fatalities if trying to switch between displayed forms when editing a large application - workaround is to switch to the Object Explorer window before switching to the target form - EVERY TIME!!!

I get this with many windows open pretty consistently. Using a 21-inch at 256 colours. I suspect it's linked to GDI, and it doesn't matter much how many/few apps are running in the background.

The error may be related to the Project Viewer because I haven't seen it since I stopped using ProjectViewer.

The editor window frequently switches to that funky font that used to accompany the Canvas error. This seems to be directly related to the number of windows open along with the size of the form (current form is ~515KB). I typically get this problem when doing a global search and forget to close the background window before continuing the search - it only takes ~4 code windows, Proview and OE window.

If I keep the OE window closed as much as possible, I do not experience _any_ of these symptoms. IMO, it's the Object Explorer that is suspect!

My experience is that I get this error after editing a lot of memo fields using a lot of cut and paste.

I get this very frequently (every few hours) when doing design work in Paradox 8 or 9. I have never had this happen in Pdox 7/32 even if I have 2 or 3 instances of Paradox open.

I have seen this when the ProjectViewer was not open, and the strange fonts usually tell me to close all and save....
Maybe it's related to toolbar file corruption. I have my largest app delete the tool bar files on start up, seem to have less problems with this.
