This is a known problem with the BDE. You cannot have a WinNT Based (NT, 2K or XP) Client unless the Server is NT Based. However the
opposite is valid ie Win9X Client with a NT Server is perfectly fine.
So basically the Server must be upgraded to Win2K or XP
