I don't know if this helps or not, but I found this document on Cyrix' web site:
Borland Paradox for Windows and Delphi BDE
Overview
Paradox for Windows and Delphi BDE are popular database applications.
Software Requirements
Paradox for Windows or Delphi BDE
Installation
Logon as an administrator. Start a command prompt session. Type change user /install and press Enter. Install Paradox for Windows and the Delphi BDE, following the manufacturers directions. When installation is complete, type change user /execute and press Enter.
Usage
Paradox for Windows and the Delphi BDE are designed to work in a network environment. Both applications control locking of database records from a common file, PDOXUSRS.NET, located on the network in a common location where all users can access it. This causes a problem, however, on WinFrame because these applications are not designed to operate on a multiuser operating system such as WinFrame. Users accessing the Paradox tables and the PDOXUSRS.NET file across the network will work correctly; however, multiple users on a WinFrame server will cause the Paradox tables to become corrupted. To avoid this problem, all Paradox database tables and the PDOXUSRS.NET lock file must be placed on a network share point. There are two ways to do this. The first way is to place the Paradox tables and the PDOXUSRS.NET file on another network file server, which can be a stand-alone Microsoft Windows NT file server, another WinFrame server, or a NetWare file server. The second method is to create a network share point pointing to one of the WinFrame servers local hard disks and then net use this share point as another drive letter.
For example, the administrator can create the directory C:\PDOX, and use the command net share pdoxshare=c:\pdox to create a network share point. Each Paradox user can then map this share point; for example: net use x: \\winframe_server\pdoxshare.
All Paradox tables and the PDOXUSRS.NET lock file can then be placed in the shared directory. The shared directory acts like a network drive even though it is on the local WinFrame server. Users can access these tables as normal from the mapped network drive, in this case drive X, and file locking will function correctly.
