Michelle's Story

I am 43 and was diagnosed with Stargardts as a child in elementary school, I have adjusted as this has just been a part of my life.

I am a RN on a busy medical floor at a large hospital. My disease is progressing and, with the help of the Dept for the Blind, have been able to retain employment with software and visual aids provided for me. At this point however, even with visual aids, my job is increasingly more difficult. I fear I will need to resign and also feeling alone with this struggle. I came across your website and am greatly encouraged and want you to know what a great source of support you are now and hopefully will continue to be. Thank you.
