My boat,
Ever since I for the first time tagged along a friend on his sailing boat I've been absolutely stunned by the beauty of Stockholm's archipelago. To me, a boat is the means of transportation with which you cruise around in the archipelago. It's been both one and two occations sailing on my friend's boat (an Ohlson 29, which by the way is his father's), and the dream of owning a boat of my own has since been there. To live this close to such a beautiful and fantastic part of the world and at the same time not have the proper means to fully enjoy it is of course not defendable, and I'be been a jealous spectator of all the boats anchored at the many boat clubs nearby my home. As real boats are built in wood, and the opportunity to buy a real nice and well maintained wood boat came when I least expected it. A good friend and colleague wanted to sell his boat since he no longer lived in Sweden, and wanted to know if I was interested. Needless to say, I was. The deal was closed in a few days and suddenly one day in March 2002 I was a boat owner!
It's an Orrskar 26 built in 1965 of Honduras mahogany on oak, designed and constructed by Erik Samuelsson in Piteå. Sounder and Wallas heater were included in the deal, as were the necessary equipment for winter storage on land. The engine is a Volvo B20 that with 130hp makes some 17 knots; enough to make Stockholm - Sandhamn a nice day cruise. That the engine is the maritime version of the same engine I have in my car is of course a very nice coincidence. The condition of the boat was at the time of purchase in general excellent, even considering that the maintenance of the interior lacked behind. The first season I pretty much focused on getting her ready for the season while getting to know how to drive her and to get more familiar with her, but during the following winter a lot more happened (with priority on the internal maintenance).
Most of the wear and tear parts in the engine have been replaced, including oil and oil filter, ignition system, air filter, etc.
I don't know very much about Nalle's history or previous owners. "Nalle", by the way, means "Teddybear". The pictures below are taken during the 2002 - 2006 seasons.
