My hair journey

Let's start from the very beginning; when I first was born my hair was dark brown and I actually had quite a lot of it.

Soon my hair changed colour and turned blonde. At my first birthday it looked like this:

As a child one of my biggest dreams was to get long, blonde, wavy hair. Just like the fairytale princesses I pretended to be...
I never reached my dream, though. My hair was stick straight and just didn't seem to want to grow. At the age of seven it just reached my shoulders.

As I hit my teen years I was bored with my hair and cut it into a chin length bob-like hairstyle. I continued with cutting it shorter and it was at its shortest when I was fourteen. Then it was cut in a short style that didn't really suit me or my hair type. I decided to grow it out to chin length again and about two months before my fifteenth birthday, at my confirmation, it looked like this:

By the time I was sixteen and on my first year in senior high school I decided to grow my hair out so I would be able to have a nice updo on the graduation prom two years later. Two years might sound like a long time to grow but since I didn't take very good care of my hair I needed all the time I could get.

Anyway, here's how it looked when I first started:

And here's how it looked one and a half year later:

And at the prom night:

I maintained it at that length for quite some time. I wanted to grow it longer but since I didn't know how to take care of it the ends split very fast and I had to cut off all of the growth.

Then, about half a year ago, I searched the web for medieval hairstyles and found different sites about long hair care. I learned a lot and ever since I started to take better care of my hair it has also started to grow. Not that very fast, just about 1 cm (approx. 0.4” ) per month but at least it's getting longer!
