Piper Warrior II review by Tom Zeiser

My first impressions:

I was searching through the Avsim file library, when a file caught my eye. It was a Piper Warrior II! This really excited me because I fly the Piper Warrior II in real life (i only have 8 hours, but I am only 15). So when I downloaded it and unzipped it, i was happy again because there was I didn't have to use ResViewer (just extract the .res file into your plnpile directory). I couldnt wait to fly it...

Exterior Visuals:

The Visuals are great. It is extremely accurate, looks as it does in real life, and the wheels are right on target. The paintjob was great, it looked like somebody just put a new coat on (which costs thousands of dollers in real life). I have no complaints except one minor one. There is no landing light. The real warrior has one, but its not that huge a mistake.

Interior Visiuals:

The cockpit is where this bird really shines. The interrior This is one of the best IFR single-engine cockpits I have ever seen. The main panel is so large and detailed, it gives me flashbacks of the cockpit in the real warrior. The 3 warning gauges are exactly the same as in real life, same with the instrument plugs. The IFR view(f3) is a nightmare if you want to see out the window though, but hey, thats why its called the IFR view. for the VFR view, its roughly the size of a deafult aircraft's IFR view. The perspective of the views are also realistic, because a deafult aircraft's IFR view is what you would be looking at if you were trying to look over the dashboard. I also saw something very creative. in the VFR view. When your engine is turned off, you can see the propeller in the window, but when its on, it disappears! what a nice touch!!

Conclusion:

I recommend the Piper Warrior II to anybody who loves single engine planes, looking for a good aircraft to practice IFR in, or an alternative to the Mooney TLS Bravo. IT EVEN COMES WITH A CHECKLIST! I wish more people would make a checklist to make flying more realistic. The people who like IFR flying will love this aircraft more than the people who fly VFR. I loved my flight with the Warrior, I highly suggest you download it now!

I give the Piper Warrior a 91%
