Något som under senare år blivit mycket populärt är hembygdsfilateli. Intresset för att samla på frimärken med stämplar från den egna hembygdens alla postkontor och orter har ökat lavinartat. Själv har jag valt att endast samla stämplar från postkontor som var öppna under ringtypsperioden d.v.s. 1872-1891. Detta är ett medvetet beslut som innebär att ett antal postkontor som öppnades efter 1891 således inte finns med i samlingen.

Eftersom jag bor i Västervik som går under H-län (Kalmar län) tilldrar sig mitt största intresse den norra länsdelen. Här fanns tidigare ett stort antal postkontor, främst ute på landsbygden och många orter och byar man passerar förbi förknippas lätt med de olika stämplarna. Genom åren har jag utvidgat mitt samlande till att gälla hela Kalmar län även om jag som sagt försöker "lägga krutet" på postkontor inom Västerviks kommun.

Av förklarliga skäl är stämplar från t.ex Västervik och Gamleby i norra länsdelen betydligt enklare att finna än stämplar från mindre poststationer från småorter på landsbygden. Dessa småorters stämplar kan i flera fall vara mycket/ytterst sällsynta att finna beroende på det faktum att de få människor som bodde i mindre byar inte skickade en bråkdel så många brev som människor i de större orterna gjorde.

Allt eftersom tiden gick blev stämplarna också sämre ju mer de användes, de blev slitna och präntade in ett tjockt, nästan oläsligt tryck på märkena och fick med jämna mellanrum bytas ut, beroende på hur mycket de användes. Det har hänt vid något enstaka tillfälle att jag funnit stämplar från orter med någon dags mellanrum, t.ex 1/6 1886 och 3/6 1886. På första datumet var stämpeln tjock och kladdig och på följande tunn, tydlig och distinkt. Det innebär att man med säkerhet kan säga att stämpeln byttes ut den 2:a eller 3:e juni 1886. Sådana upptäckter är väldigt intressanta eftersom det är värdefulla dokumentationer och ett bidrag till forskningen inom Svensk posthistoria!

Eftersom jag samlar hela Kalmar län (H-län), har jag valt att ta med samtliga stämplar från de postkontor jag hittills har lyckats komma över och som ingår i min samling. De skiften som tillkommit i länsgräns-ändringar på senare tid (1970) har jag dessutom valt att ignorera. De olika ortstämplarna är katalogiserade från A-Ö, för att förenkla för de som vill se en viss ortstämpel.

Gränsen för när en poststation öppnade, bakåt i tiden är satt vid rakstämplarnas införande år 1819!

Something that in recent years become very popular is to collect homeregion-cancelations. The interest in collecting stamps with cancels from peoples own homeregions and all postoffices have increased the avalanche-like. I myself have chosen to only collect stamps from postoffices that was open during the circletype-period 1872-1891. This is a conscious decision that a number of postoffices opened after 1891, therefore not is included in the collection.

Since I live in Västervik, as the northern H-County (Kalmar län) attracts my main interest in the North County section. Here was formerly a large number of postoffices, mainly on the countryside and many towns and villages passing through easily associated with the various cancels/stamps. Through the years, I have expanded my collection to the whole Kalmar län, although I´m trying to "put the gunpowder" at the postoffices in Västervik municipality.

For obvious reasons are stamps with cancels from bigger towns/villages like Västervik and Gamleby in the northern county part much easier to find than stamps from smaller postoffices in rural areas. These villages stamps can in many cases be very/extremely rare to find due to the fact that the few people who lived in small villages did not send a fraction as many letters as human beings in the larger towns did.

As time passed, the stamps get messy and thick the more they where used, they became worn and engross in a thick, almost unintelligible press marks and was periodically replaced, depending on how much they where used. It has happened on any single occasion that I found stamps from places with no time intervals, eg 1 / 6 1886 and 3 / 6 1886. The first date the stamp was thick and messy and on the other date thin, clear and distinct. This means that it can be safely said that the stamp was changed out the 2nd or June 3, 1886. Such discoveries are very interesting because it is valuable documentation and a contribution to research in the Swedish postal history!

Since I collect the entire Kalmar län (H-län), I have chosen to include all the stamps from the post offices I have so far managed to come over and included in my collection. The plots come in the county border changes recently (1970), I have also chosen to ignore. The various cancels is cataloged from A-Ö, to simplify for those who want to see a certain cancel.

The threshold for when a postal station opened, back in time is set at "straightcancelations" introduction year 1819!
