This is my Mercedes 280E-79, one thirsty old man, I can tell you that!
I decided (foolishly) that I should restore this car during the winter. Well now the winter is almost over and believe it or not - the ambulance is almost done!

We were planning on moving the ambulance from the painter last Monday but
I got stuck at work and the ambulance did not start... Turned out that it
was out of gas! Anyway on Tuesday at 10.30 I saw Johnny's trailer with a
huge white ambulance on it. It has really been quite a transformation, wow!!!
We drove it to my friend Mats who had some place in his garage for me to use. Even though I measured the garage I seriously doubt that we ever will get the ambulance in there. So now it stands outdoors covered from rain and snow. My normal car has some problem with the alarm so I haven't been able to go there myself to work on the ambulance yet, next week hopefully! |

The ambulance has now eventually been painted in Arctic White! It looks like a big white whale with some nice chrome fitted to it here and there! :-) Now it shall be protected from rust and then I will get it all together so it will be ready to roll at the end of March. I will get some pictures on Monday so hopefully I will be able to add them during next week if somebody by any chance might be interested! (Hello Claudio! ;-)) |

Pictures of the renovation process
Rust, rust and rust again! This car was NOT feeling too well... But, Dr Cochito at Bilplåtspecialisten Linköping nevertheless took it into his garage and started to work...

Now
the basic stel work was done and it is time to get some paint on. It wasn't
easy to find someone who could take this job. I did find one but he sadly committed
suicide before he did any work on the car. Too bad he also got paid for half
the work in advance...
But after talking to just about every car painter in Linköping I eventually
found one that was not busy with insurance jobs as all the others were.
Firma Plåtisolering in Metsjö had two painters that eagerly started to
work on the little nimb car that a 5.5 m ambulance is not...
After a total of 51 hours of work it was eventually painted in Arctic White,
a colour I was a bit uncertain of but now that I have seen the result it's very
ok! Johnny Karlsson at Firma Plåtisolering did the rust protection as well while
the car was there.
