Bowmore distillery is one of the oldest in Scotland built in 1779. It has a central location in the town of Bowmore, the Islay capital at the shore of Loch Indaal. Rare at Bowmore is the three malting floors that are still in use as well as the fact that many of their vessels are made from copper. The hot water from the distilliation process is used to heat the swimmingpool that lies just at the main entrance.
