It is possible to create extra buttons on the main toolbar in Opera 7 and Opera 8.
These two images show a Russian page were I shift between Encoding "Automatic selection" and "Thai" using the extra buttons in the main toolbar.
My "Quintarian 2.4" skin is used, modified to support the "Thai" and "Auto" extra buttons.
You can add new buttons to Opera with drag'n'drop, because Opera recognizes this special type of hyperlink:
<a href="opera:/button/[action text]" title="[default button title]">[link]</a>
Replace [action text] with the button action, on the format:
[action], "[parameter]", "", , "[button-name]"
See the standard_menu.ini file for examples of the actions that can be used
(an action is the part after the = sign).
Replace [default button title] with the title for the button.
Replace [link] with the drag'n'drop-link text or image.
The drag'n'drop link for the Thai button looks like this:
<A HREF='opera:/button/Set encoding, "iso-8859-11", "", , "Thai_button"'
title="Thai"><IMG SRC="q5br23_thai.png" WIDTH="42" HEIGHT="38"
BORDER="0" ALT="Thai"></A>
For the Thai button [action] is Set encoding, [parameter] is iso-8859-11, [button-name] is Thai_button, [default button title] is Thai, and [link] is an image.
And the drag'n'drop link for the Auto button looks like this:
<A HREF='opera:/button/Set encoding, "", "", , "Auto_button"'
title="Auto"><IMG SRC="q5br23_auto.png" WIDTH="42" HEIGHT="38"
BORDER="0" ALT="Auto"></A>
For the Auto button [action] is Set encoding, [parameter] is empty, [button-name] is Auto_button, [default button title] is Auto, and [link] is an image.
The "actions" for the new buttons are copied from standard_menu.ini
Notice that I invented new button labels, so I had to add button images and support for these new buttons in my skin, see the definition of the buttons in the [images] section of the skin.ini file (Image).
Notice: the modified "skin.ini" file and the new button images are included in the q5br24o7xx skin.
