For Mozilla Firefox 1.5 (ver. 2.5)

With support for Nexus button!


All Bujold fans have surely waited for this, a reskinned version of Mozilla Firefox with a "Chalion" look.

Notice:You should be able to use this theme on all platforms (operating systems).

Notice that there is a Nexus navigation button in the main toolbar of the browser.

This theme should work with Mozilla Firefox 1.5.

If you have Mozilla Firefox 2.0, go to the instructions for Mozilla Firefox 2.0.


 Instructions Mozilla Firefox 1.5:

  1. If you do not already have Mozilla Firefox, go to www.mozilla.com and download and install Mozilla Firefox 1.5.
  2. Start Mozilla Firefox 1.5.
  3. In the menu, click "Tools" - "Options..." and the Options dialog will open, click the "Content" tab and and check:
    • That the option "Warn me when websites try to install extensions or themes" is unchecked.
    • That the option "Enable JavaScript" is checked.

  4. This step only works in Mozilla Firefox 1.5: Click on this link to install the "Quintarian Web Browser 2.5" theme in your Mozilla Firefox 1.5.
  5. The "Themes" dialog will open, there you can choose the "Quintarian Web Browser 2.5" theme.
  6. Click "Use Theme", close the "Themes" dialog, shut down Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and then start it again.
  7. Your Mozilla Firefox 1.5 should now have the "Quintarian Web Browser" look.
  8. In the menu, click "Tools" - "Options..." and the Options dialog will open, click the "Content" tab and enable (check) the option "Warn me when websites try to install extensions or themes".
 Nexus button: To install a Nexus button in the main toolbar, do like this:
  1. Start Mozilla Firefox 1.5. (In Linux you need to be logged in as root)
  2. Download the file "nexus_q5_mzff1.5.xpi" to a temporary folder.
  3. This step only works in Mozilla Firefox 1.5: In the menu click "File" - "Open File...", navigate to the temporary folder, and open the file "nexus_q5_mzff1.5.xpi".
  4. The "Software installation" dialog opens, click the "Install Now" button (image).
  5. The "Extensions" dialog opens, you can see "Nexus Button (q5br) 1.5" and the message "This item will be installed after you restart Firefox" (image).
  6. Close the "Extensions" dialog, and close Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and then start it again.
  7. In the menu click "View" - "Toolbars" - "Customize", and the "Customize Toolbar" dialog opens (image).
  8. Drag the Nexus button from the "Customize Toolbar" dialog window to the main toolbar, and then click the "Done" button.
 Windows only (?):
  1. If you want to change the Mozilla Firefox icon to a Quintarian-inspired one, do like this:
  2. Download the file mz1q5.zip and "unzip" it to a temporary folder. There should be 2 files, you will be using only one of them:
    • "q5br.ico", a Quintarian Web Browser icon (image)
  3. Move the file "q5br.ico" from the temporary folder to the Mozilla Firefox program folder, usually "C:\Program files\Mozilla Firefox\".
  4. Now you can change the Mozilla icons in the Start menu and on the desktop to "q5br.ico".
