One of the most important classic sized comic books in Britain was Thriller Picture Library, an adventure type title in the spirit of old Errol Flynn movies that came along in 1951. Readers had an endless series of great adventures and first rate art to collect and heroes like Robin Hood and Dick Daring kept the suspense going. Battler Britton arrived in issue 160 and became a regular, soon to be followed by Spy 13. War comics had arrived.
