Sportshooting
Details of sports shooting
Shooting is a sport. Compared to many other sports the shooting sport has a number of important advantages. The performance of the shooter is not determined by the size, strength, age or speed of the sportsman- or woman. In sports shooting a good result is determined for a large part by self-control and a clear mind. The result follows from the concentration during each part of the shooting act and the willingness to learn during training and matches.
Although a good physical condition and a healthy way of life are desirable in the shooting sport, the capability to concentrate is a condition for success. A victory does not mean that this victory has been taken from somebody else, but that a personal goal has been accomplished. All things necessary for finding satisfaction in partaking in a sport, can be found in and through the shooting sports.
In many sports the performance is determined largely by the age of the competitor. Not so in shooting: a champion can be both a youth or a middle aged person. Elderly shooters can still compete very well in matches. Sports shooting is for men and women, it is a summer- and a wintersport. One can compete both in teams as individually. Also physically handicapped can compete in sports shooting.
Shooting is a very individualistic sport. All alone
on
the shooting stand only the shooter, through perfect control, can shoot
the perfect shot. Nobody but the person pulling the trigger is
responsible
for the result. But whatever this result may be, there is always
afterwards
the happy (or not so happy) discussions in the clubhouse about our
shooting
sport.
