Cross Country slalom with two frisbees...
might be the fastest way to try to describe this frisbee event. The basic idea is to run, and throw, yourself through a mile long course as fast as possible.

The 1 - 1.5 kilometer course consists of a number of gates which the discs has to pass. It doesn't matter which way you run, as long as the disc passes the gates correctly. You throw one disc, runs to where it landed and throws the other disc form there, picks up the first disc, and so on...

Kurt "Kutte" Karlsson from Lund has won a World Championships silver in this event.

So, by accurate smart throws you can get yourself a shorter run, but to throw good when you're tired and out of breath from the running is not an easy feat.

If you compare with other sports, biathlon is one where you as a player is confronted with a similar problem. But since you in discathon are constantly throwing you way around the course, you're concentration and throwing accuracy has to be immaculate all through the race, and every throw has to be perfect not to lose any time.

In a discathon course there are usually two so called "tests". These are special double gates, where the player if he/she succeeds in passing both gates with the same throw, do not need to pass the subsequent gate and consequently can win a lot of time.

From the player's point of view...
The latest throw with disc 1 lands, from this point the player throws disc 2 which he's carried with him so far, picks up disc 1, runs to where the newly thrown disc 2 landed, stops, throws disc 1, picks up, runs,stops,throws,run,stops,throws.....

...until the last throw breaks the finish line and the panting, flushing, suffocating player falls down on his back without even caring what time and place he got... ;-)

The squeeking sound from his lungs indicates a slight shortage of oxygen supply.
