2009-02-01 We’re making progress with the singing sessions. Peo Pettersson is doing a most impressive work with the songs and so far we’ve put voclas to five and a half songs. We’re on schedule to be done with his vocals in March. On our Myspace site we’ve put up three new tasters from our new album, with Peo’s voice on them. Enjoy! 2009-01-05 First recording session is done with Peo Pettersson, who put vocals to How I’m Dead. We hope to be finished around mid March with lead vocals, then we’ll add the choir-harmonies and start mixing. 2008-12-05 So much has happened in the last few weeks, so here’s a light version to sum it up. First off we came to the conclusion that our bass-sound was not good enough, so what to do? Well, after cranking all the EQ-nobbs from east to west we decided to take it all out and do it all over. In a more careful manor we really worked out a great bass-sound and got the bass back into the production in just three days! (What did I say, Linus!! :-)). The bass tracks sounds really great now, and more like the way we thought they were the first time over, now we know better… Then we hooked up with singer Peo Pettersson at his studio and production company PoP Productions. That might not sound like our bag of tricks, but don’t let the company name fool you. Peo is a real rocker, rooted in the bluesrock of the seventies with Deep Purple as main influence. Knowing his voice for years we knew his voice would give us a very special dynamic entwined with our music. Peo has never done any prog-thrash before, but got interested after hearing our material and we agreed to get him to the studio to sing on one of the tracks, see what result we would get and then go from there. He went in the studio a couple of days ago and we recorded lead vox for Random Pain, and what can we say… I think we’re in business…! 2008-11-09 Time due for some updates. We’ve changed our official email-address to nocturnalalliance@tele2.se. News from the studio is that we at the moment we’re constantly going through our material and despite Kristofers magnificent work on the tracks we’re still not convinced that his efforts are what we want for the final product. Therefor Micke have been singing on a few tracks to feel the material out and after that we’ve decided to contact a couple of more singers. While this is being written we don’t know if we’re going to be able to use any of them, so for now it is Kristofer’s, Micke’s and Michelle’s vocals intended for the album. One of the singers we’ve asked is an old favourite of ours which if he says yes most likely will control the lead right across the album with the aid of Michelle as co-lead on one of the tracks and choirs. We’ll see what happens. All we can say is that the project will be delayed—as we hoped to be finished around the end of this year, but this has changed. Hope you guys can live with that to get the best out of us! 2008-10-06 Shit, there’s really been some time passed since we updated our most true fans on this page… Sorry ’bout that, it’s been a busy time for us. Kristofer Svensson visited us this past weekend and managed to put his lead—with some additional pitches—onto the twelve tracks in just 17 hrs!! Since there is quite a distance between us, we tried as hard as we could to do as much as we could in the shortest amount of time, and that we managed to get it all done… Well, who would have thought!? Kristofer was very easy to work with, very eager to meet our wishes and we think the end results of his vocals will bring the songs the vibe and magic we anticipated. A picture of Kristofer is up on our Lineup-page. We are very humbled by the fact that we have been able to work with such fine musicians on our recordings and every one really pushes their limit to make it great, and they do make it great! Michelle was in the studio as well… Michelle? Yes, well we can’t be Nocturnal Alliance without having a bit of mystery to us, now can we? Michelle is going to do a duet with Kristofer on one of the tracks and help us out with some pitches as well in the choir-arrangements. For those of you who can’t wait for this recording to be finished—well that includes us, by the way—will maybe have to wait until ’08 turns into ’09. We’re really going to make this one hell of a production so we think it’ll be worth the wait… 2008-08-22 Some news again… Linus Abrahamson has been in the studio—fulfilling our lives—for a second round, doing the solos on the parts first intended for Andreas Lagerin. Micke also had a go at one of the solos and the result is his first lead-lick ever. Henrik joined in with his keys giving the part some extra vibe. What else… Oh yeah, we got the dates booked for our singer to do his recordings. The singer is Kristofer Svensson and sessions starts in the beginning of October. Until then Micke and Henrik will be busy ground-mixing the material to get the best out of each instrument. The sound for bass, drums and keys are pretty much settled but we still got some work to do concerning the guitarsound, which we want to sound as heavy, crunchy and Nocturnalistic as always… He, he… What else…? We got the lyrics up for you on this site. Check ”Lyrics” in the menu… Obviously. 2008-08-08 We have put up three sneak previews on our MySpace site, each 30 seconds of How I’m Dead, I see myself dead and Within a lie. 2008-08-02 An old friend visited the C. Oak Studio this day. Former brother in arms back in the Detest and Twilight days, Janne Ström, shredded a couple of solos into the production, and we are proud to say the result is very pleasing. On another note we regretfully have to mention that we will be without the helping hands of Andreas Lagerin on this recording. Andreas became a father a couple of days back and NA would just like to congratulate him and say that we hope for an aggressive comeback in the near future with some of NA:s future projects. In the absence of Andreas, Linus Abrahamson will handle Andreas’ thoughtof soloparts. 2008-06-21 Our good friend, and brilliant musician, Linus Abrahamson, has visited the studio and put his magic onto our new recording. Linus put down nine solos in total and we’re very happy about the results. If you want to know more about Linus’ musical world, please visit his space on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/mrgul. We can also add that all drums are finished now by Henrik, and pre-mixing has started in order to prepare for the singer. Yeah, we know we haven’t told who it is yet but it is settled anyway… :) Good things come to those who wait. 2008-05-13 Well. Time’s due for some news, right? We’re not dead or anything… We’re just more in the studio than on the internet. Micke has finished off the bass-sessions and Henrik is making great progress putting drums to the tracks. All but two has been hammered on. Linus Abrahamson has made solos for his selected tracks back at his place and will put his magic work onto the tracks in the near future. Andreas Lagerin (of MEANSTREAK) and Janne Ström (of SLUG) has also gotten some selected tracks in the mail to put guitarsolos on, and we’re looking forward to have all three in the studio in the near future. The leadsinger-spot is yet to be filled, though. We started off having a green light from a singer we both admire a lot, but lack of interest on his part—turning down several invitations—made us look elsewhere for the voice that will do The 3rd phase justice. We have though hooked up a female voice to the project which will be an interesting new way of working for us. We’ll let you know soon who she is. 2008-05-08 No more mp3:s will be released from NA. Nocturnal Alliance has made the decision choosing not to release any of the forthcoming material as MP3's. 'The 3rd phase of destruction" will therefor not be a service of Isound or any other legal MP3-provider. The background is that what we do does not come cheap, and we put a lot of love in making our music. To provide the world with free samples makes that equation go haywire - we can not pay our listeners to listen to our music. Our albums are not big sellers, but we've gotten so much positive feedback from prog-metal lovers all around the world, that we think we're doing something right. And the small amount coming from our sold copies goes straight back into the studio, and is the insurance we need to produce more music and get better at it every each time, with better equipment and better material. We think we have something very special on our upcoming album. 'The 3rd phase of destruction' is something we're very proud of. The album will of course be for sale for anyone who wants to buy - just not in the form of MP3's. Neither will we put up any full-length versions of the tracks here on MySpace. If you really dig Nocturnal Alliance, the choice is easy, there are ways to get your kicks now and in the future. If you're just in for the casual listen, then we're not for you. Sad, but true. There's much more to come after "3rd phase" - we have lots of ideas already, so the stream of NA-metal will not dry out... It will just not be in the face of MP3-fans - it will be in the face of true metal fans!! Cheers, y'all, and stay alert for a quick preview on our MySpace in the near future! /Nocturnal Alliance
